Gauge Junction - the Gauge Museum Model Railway
Gauge Junction is a fixed 00 gauge analogue controlled steam era model railway depicting a railway scene somewhere in rural England. We are based upstairs in the Gauge museum on Platform 1, Bishops Lydeard Station as part of the Steam Trust museum exhibits with the aim of encouraging visitors into the museum and to share the enjoyment of the model railway hobby. Varying displays of rolling stock take place during the railway running season and are provided by the volunteers who operate Gauge Junction and display rolling stock from their own private collections.
Gauge Junction is very much a youth project and the majority of our operators and builders are members of Trackers, which is the youth section of the West Somerset Railway. We will be ready to welcome you to view Gauge Junction if visiting Bishops Lydeard station and even to join our operating team if interested.
Opening days depend very much on the availability of our volunteer operators but we make every effort to open on Sundays, special events, Bank Holidays and as many days as we can to include Saturdays and school holiday periods from 10.00am to 4.00pm, sometimes later during special events - see the Contacts page if you require further details.
The model railway is run by volunteers and financed by donations from visitors to help pay for maintenance and for further development of the layout; admission is free.
